The late Emmett Hart established Mountville Mills in 1963 in a small building just outside of LaGrange, Georgia. Hart worked at Callaway Mills for 15 years in the design and development departments before starting his own company at the encouragement of his wife, Nancy.

Emmett and Nancy were among the first seven employees of Mountville Mills. Today, the family-owned business maintains more than 400,000 square-feet in manufacturing plants, and more than 350 employees at divisions in LaGrange, GA, Dalton, GA, Ronse, Belgium, and Guangzhou, China. Mountville has come to be recognized as the leading manufacturer of floor mats in the world, and its products account for about 35 percent of the domestic U.S. production of specialty floor mats. Since 1963, Mountville Mills has produced the finest, most technologically advanced mats on the market. From our very first mats we've focused on customer service, on-time deliveries and product quality.

When Emmett Hart passed away in 2000, an executive team made up of his children was ready to move the company forward. Company President David Hart Jr. joined the business in 1979, Susan Hart Ekkebus, Treasurer, joined Mountville Mills in 1980, while Sherry Hart joined her brother and sister in 1984.

Increased sales show the demand continuing to grow for the company’s products. Mountville Mills first expanded by joining forces with The Andersen Company in Dalton, Georgia in 1999. Then, in the spring of 2004, Mountville Mills expanded to China. The company opened a sales office in Guangzhou, which also serves as an additional logo mat design center. Then in 2005, Mountville expanded its operations to Ronse, Belgium. Mountville maintains a manufacturing and sales facility there to service the mat needs of its European customers. In June 2007, Mountville’s China Sales office diversified into manufacturing, focusing primarily on printed logo mats for Asia.
