Artwork Requirements
Mountville Mills is committed to providing the most attractive logo mats possible.
Essential to this goal is the quality of the artwork provided to us. The best artwork
is digital art files obtained directly from your customer. Electronic artwork provides
‘first generation’ quality and is not reliant on printers and scanners. If using
printed materials for scanning purposes, a Black and White Ad Slick provides the
best quality. Artwork is best submitted electronically – either through the ‘Your
Account’ feature or via e-mail to
mats@mountville.com. Fax machines distort artwork and therefore should not
be used to send requests.
A listing of different forms of artwork follows. Each has been classified as either
Acceptable, Unacceptable or Marginal. Please provide the best possible artwork on
your initial request, as this will expedite the design process. If we are unable
to use artwork, we will promptly advise the person initiating the request that additional
materials are required.

Collecting Artwork
Now that we have reviewed the artwork requirements, this segment will cover the
actual submittal process. Several options follow in order of preference:
- Refer to our Logo Mat Search. Mountville is quickly approaching
1,000,000 designs. With an image library of this size, many national and regional
company logos are in our system. There is no need for you to make a trip to your
customer if the logo is already on file.
- Collect an electronic image from your customer. Most companies will
have their company logo saved to a computer file. Ask your contact to e-mail their
company logo to your e-mail address. You may not be able to open the file, but forward
the image to Mountville. Our designers have a broad range of software programs that
will likely allow us to work with the image. Always collect a hard copy of your
customer’s artwork in the event the file is not usable.
- Obtain printed materials from your customer. Please be certain your
customer has furnished you with a fresh and well-printed version of their company
logo. The image may be scanned by a document scanner, the scanning function of a
printer, or by a photo scanner. Please scan with a resolution between 300 – 600
dpi and save the file in one of the following formats: JPG; PDF; BMP; CMX;
PCT; GIF.
